Welcome to the Web Design Portfolio of
Katie Joy Villegas
Greetings. I appreciate your interest in my work. Here you will find examples of web sites I have handcrafted for local clientele; and also as projects for the Web Design Diploma program, which I have recently graduated from, through the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. All of the sites you see here are hand coded and uniquely designed and based upon in-depth communications with the clients. All of the sites utilize external style sheets and have been tested on a variety of platforms.

In the fall of 2006, I volunteered to create a web site for my community's neighborhood association. What you see here is its redesign, which I made in the fall of 2007. I continue to maintain the site to this day. |
After working closely with the Waverly community association, Waverly's historic main street asked me if I would create a site for them as well. I am still working on it, and will be adding a shopping cart and checkout soon so that people can buy memberships, t-shirts and bumper stickers. |
I created this on a timetable in preparation for the Annual BIRDS festival in the fall of 2007. I worked closely with the board and festival producer to get everything just right for the big event. |
This is a screenshot from a site redesign. The client had requested a more consistent and user friendly interface that was less rectangular than the original. She also wanted a similar color scheme to the original, but with richer hues. I custom designed the ivy leaves as well. Click here to launch my redesign. |
~ SQL Database integration ~ |
|
Here you see an image created in Photoshop as a design plan for my first SQL database connected site. The logo and background were designed based on the client's request to include Sacred Geometry. |
The Natural Brothers are actually brothers who each manage a separate deli location, but work together on their catering and personal chef program. I am currently working on designing an online ordering system via account creation, so that customers can log in and place their catering and chef orders online. |
~ Flash Sites ~ |
|
This site is the result of my working with the 5th grade class at my children's school. For six weeks I went into their classroom for an hour each week and discussed internet safety as well as both interface design and information design. The students chose all the colors and fonts. I also scanned and animated an image that one of the children drew. This site was developed using Action Script 3.

This is the first Flash site I ever made. It was designed for the band I play congas in. At this point, it is somewhat of a placeholder until I create a redesign for the group. The size of the interface is unacceptably small, but I believe it shows a good understanding of working with Flash for web design. It was created using Action Script 2. |
